Ashley Gasperi
Secretary of the Board, Co-founder & Programs Director, Ekenywa
Ashley Gasperi, Secretary of the Board, Co-Founder and Programs Director for Ekenywa is responsible for day to day operations of the organization, program planning and implementation. She is dedicated to developing processes and policies to support organization goals and develop best practices. She has prior experience in developing new programs targeting public health related goals for CDC grant funded work at Temple University Health System. One of her areas of expertise is in community systems administration which she obtained her Masters degree in from Thomas Jefferson University.
Ashley has been recognized from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) for her certificate in leadership and organizing to improve population health. She was also given the nursing excellence award from Holy Redeemer Hospital. Ashley is often described as driven, compassionate, and a leader. Her commitment to community has been evident throughout her career and personal life. She has been active in volunteering in the underserved communities of Philadelphia and medical relief work in Kenya. She is a firm believer in education and providing resources to communities with the goal of being self sufficient.
Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband Chris Gasperi and three children: Tiana, Christopher Jr. and Alivia. Her hobbies include scuba diving, reading, and socializing with friends. Ashley grew up in Kenya in a Christian missionary family and believes this had a huge role in co-founding Ekenywa. The mission to help the poor is exemplary of the life of Christ.
